Semana Clasica de Puerto Sherry 2014
Semana Clasica again reaches the Bay of Cadiz and both Puerto Sherry, El Puerto de Santa María as the Bay itself are decorated to receive these jewels of naval artistic heritage every two years come to sail our waters.
Once more, 15 Meters Class season began in Puerto Sherry, accompanied by numerous Spanish and international vessels. The event started with the presentation to the press and the training race that participated by 15 Meters Class and some of the vessels of classic fleet. At the end of the day, everyone enjoyed a kindly welcome offered by Bodegas Osborne.
The races began on Thursday, July 24th, with two exciting regattas for the 15 Meters class affected by several breaks, first The Lady Anne, who broke the rudder arm before departure, and on the other hand Hispania, who, after an impressive comeback, broke the spinnaker, eventually finishing third in both tests, staying as winner the Tuiga, accompanied by Mariska. The classic fleet races a coastal regatta in which Giraldilla emerged victorious followed by the Portuguese Sea Lion.
After the race, participants enjoyed a reception on the terrace of the Hotel Puerto Sherry in which they could discuss all the events occurred in this exciting journey.
Friday dawned with uncertainty repair The Lady Anne, who was finally able to participate in the two races for the 15 Meters class, but not before having to make an emergency repair at the racecourse to compete. The day was developed with a first place of The Lady Anne in the first race and Mariska victory in the second, being very tight qualifying in the fight for victory between Tuiga and Mariska for the final day. The classic fleet made an coastal race in which the Orion won the victory, followed by Giraldilla, leaving the classification for these two boats after the poor performance of Sea Lion in the day, for which he was relegated to third place .
The final day was given with a breeze that prompted the Mariska was boosted with the victory of the Semana Clasica tied on points with Tuiga, being also tied the Hispania, after a creditable second place, and The Lady Anne. The classic fleet saw the Giraldilla winning with the partial victory and consequently overall, followed by Orion.
The Semana Clasica ended with the traditional awards ceremony held at the Terrace of the Hotel Puerto Sherry, being stationed all participants for the next edition, in 2016.
